Last week, the MHRA published an interim draft of the drug information leaflet which contains the findings of its review and other relevant documents.
In a separate review, the MHRA said that it had been asked to take the most recent information into account and that it was now looking at whether Viagra would be approved for use by the GP.
The MHRA, which is responsible for the medical information that has been published in the last 12 months, also advised that the review should not stop because it contains nothing about the problem and could also mean that Viagra will not be prescribed as a first line of treatment for the condition.
The review, which is being developed by the MHRA, is being led by Dr David Woodcock, chief executive of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, and is expected to take place in a few days.
The review has been prompted by concerns that men taking the drug, sildenafil, were being misdiagnosed with the condition and that the drugs could interfere with the sexual life of many. Dr Woodcock said the drugs would therefore be prescribed by a GP.
The MHRA said it had had a number of previous reviews of sildenafil but had not received any of its previous guidance from the regulator. In its review, the MHRA noted that the drugs were not suitable for all men.
It added that the review should be completed and the medicines should be stopped from being used by more than one man.
The review is also being led by Dr Andrew Sampson of the National Institute of Health.
Sampson (Māori) is a self-taught urologist, sexologist and sex therapist who has served as the national sex education agency's deputy chairperson from 2008 to 2011.A total of 974,000 prescriptions for Viagra were filled in 2012, up from 673,000 in 2013.The medicines were approved by the MHRA in 2010 but have not been officially endorsed or endorsed by the regulator until May 2017.
The MHRA said it had received a number of requests for information on Viagra from patients and doctors in its review. In total, it said, more than 100,000 people have taken the drugs and more than 1,200 have been treated for the condition.

Dr Woodcock, who previously worked as deputy chairperson of the department of urology at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Kingston, said that his findings had been a good basis for the review. He added that although the review was not aimed at the general population, the review would have been more thorough in other areas of urology, such as the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The MHRA is taking an active role in the review of all medicines and health products.
It said it would advise patients to seek medical advice if they had a problem with the medicine and to seek medical advice if they had concerns about the side effects of the medicine, whether they were related to the medicine or to other drugs, including supplements.
